Bubble Gum POP! Skillsdj presents ETD POP 2012

If you are a lover of  house music then the place to be this past weekend was at ETD POP2012 at the Oracle arena. The Electro Techno Disco (ETD) music orgasmic event produced by Skillsdj brought in some big names after a two year hiatus.  Amongst headliner Benny Bennasi was fedde legrand, Dash Berlin and Sander Van Doorn, just to name a few.
The stage was majestic and the light show itself was spectacular. I of course decided to dress up in a pink wig and bright colors because nothing said POP to me like bubblegum pink! All the others in attendance did not disappoint. Glow sticks, tutus and Bright colors were everywhere!! Take a peek at what was an amazing night for house music....

Were you there? Tell me what was your favorite part? Check out my video here

Why we need to stop using the word Hater.....

Hater: A person that simply cannot be happy for another person's success. So rather than be happy they make a point of exposing a flaw in that person.

I remember hearing this word for the first time and immediately being put off by it. Why? To me the word brings up connotations of the word Bitch, and the N word. Sure, it clearly doesn't hold the vulgarity that those two words do, but make no mistake it does hold its negativity.

You see when you call someone a hater, you in turn become one. This world is full of people who will constantly talk behind your back, call you names, and try to knock you down. When you expose them and call them a "hater" aren't you doing but the exact same thing? Aren't you trying to knock them back down? Expose their flaws? Call them out? In reality you give those people who are envious or jealous of  you the satisfaction of getting under your skin, regardless if it's true or not. You have given the power to the hater, instead of retaining it for yourself.

"Hating" should not be socially acceptable in any form. You know what happens when you do? It becomes acceptable. The consequence is being a "hater", and who really cares about that? My concern is that our youth will not care to be called a hater, just like some women of today don't care to be called a bitch. That the word will become empowered by our youth, and quite frankly we can't have that. I don't promote hate in any form!  If you do, you get the aftermath of  something as simple as the Miss America 2014 pageant. Tweets and social comments about an Indian-American woman not being "American" enough to win the title. Yes, these  comments are racist  BUT they are also HATE comments. Just haters right? NO. Stop using the word, stop empowering negativity. Instead take whatever bad is being thrown at you and turn it into something positive. Stop acknowledging Hate. There are no "haters", there are only those can not see the joy.

There is no such thing as "just words"
Loving you,

50 Shades of Grey! Throwback Thursday OOTD

This Throwback Outfit of the Day, had me feeling all kinds of 50 shades of grey. I wore a great grey bubble skirt dress that I paired unconventionally with a grey sweater. The sweater had great shoulder detail that I felt added a simple chicness. I topped it off with a great silver statement necklace to complete my "Anastasia" look.  Happy Thursday!

Real Talk Wednesday...Why it's sometimes better not to be perfect.

Everyone has a favorite quote, an inspirational saying that they always go back to for some reason or another.
This is mine. It's my favorite because I often trip up myself, hold myself back from doing many things because of the fear of not being perfect. How many of you can relate to this? You have an idea, or a goal, or just a plain desire to try something new, only to start and get stuck? You get stuck because the voice in your head starts to say things like..."oh you don't do this as well as so and so." or,  "really? who do you think you are? You are too young, too old, too out of shape, not pretty enough, etc..." I am a perfectionist at heart. I don't believe that there is anything that I shouldn't be able to do. And here in lies my problem....yes, I believe in myself, but I also believe that everything should be perfect and amazing right off the bat, and this simply is not true. "So and so" didn't become amazing overnight or accomplish XYZ overnight either, so why do I believe that I have to? This idea of "perfectionism" is holding me back. Instead of reveling in the tiny milestones of my progress, my advancement, I put myself down, and eventually get myself stuck. I soon find fear setting in, and once that happens it's a hard climb back out.  So, I often come back to this quote to remind me that being imperfect is perfect, because no one knows it all in the beginning. Its how we learn to do things, what eventually drives us forward to be great, and will one day make us that "so and so" to someone else.

Go out and be a beginner!

Festival Season has arrived! OOTN Hippic Chic.

Coachella is this coming weekend and it officially marks the music festival season. If you think Fashion doesn't dictate what the hipsters wear at these festivals, you'd be wrong. While last springs fashion were marked with neon and brights, this spring is softer and more feminine. Boho chic is the new festival season go to wear. Think woodstock, with long flowing skirts, fringe shirts, leather peices, jean anything and of course the flower crown. I had the opportunity to attend a local musical festival of sorts this weekend and while its a far cry from coachella, I took the opportunity to dress like I was ;)
I made my own daisy chain flower crown. I paired it with a flowy top, a jean skirt and a peace sign.

Skirt: Hollister
Top: TJ Maxx
Flower crown: Made by me
